Varna is Bulgaria’s largest port and the most populated and visited city in Bulgaria.
This is the so-called “Black Sea Capital” of the country.
In antiquity it was called”Odessos” and was founded in 585B.C. by the Greeks. The town has a variety of places of interests to visit –Naval Museum, Natural History Museum and Aquarium, Ethnographic Museum.
In the ninth century it was already called Varna. It is supposed that the name originates from the horse people in Central Asia .The town was included in the territory of Bulgaria during the reign of king Kaloian .
